Welcome to MCNC on the World Wide Web. We are pleased to have you as a visitor. We invite you to peruse our web site and learn more about our organization, services, and people.
For almost a quarter of a century, MCNC has been a trailblazer in the integration of technology and education. As the operator of the North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN), MCNC's focus is to provide a leading edge network infrastructure upon which our state's greatest minds can create and collaborate. From the faculty member engaged in pharmaceutical research at Elizabeth City State University, to the aspiring television producer at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NCREN serves the internet, intranet, and research needs of higher education. In 2008, we expanded the scope of NCREN by connecting all 115 North Carolina K12 Local Education Agencies (School Districts) to NCREN through the North Carolina K20 School Connectivity initiative. As K12 students, teachers and administrators join their peers from the University of North Carolina System, North Carolina's many private colleges and universities, select North Carolina community colleges and a number of research organizations in the NCREN community, they will receive the benefits of a reliable, scalable network infrastructure that provides an excellent platform for teaching, learning, and innovation.
